Aemulor turns to RISC OS 2By Chris Williams. Published: 19th Apr 2003, 23:28:58 | Permalink | Printable
Get that 1991 feel on your 2003 hardwareJan de Boer's A310 emulator for modern RISC OS computers has proven popular in various online corners of the wired RISC OS world this weekend with Arcsite running a story on it as well as AcornArcade with a nice retro gaming angle and mini-review. Jan's emulator shamelessly provides Arthur, RISC OS 2 and 3 ROMs for you to play with and although it runs acceptably on a StrongARM computer, it's not yet compatible with the Iyonix.
So up steps Aemulor today, the 26 bit emulator for Iyonix users, with a guide to run Jan's emulator on a 32 bit system.
"Aemulor can now run applications written before RO4 thanks to the efforts of Jan", announces Aemulor developer Adrian Lee. "An A310 emulator that now, thanks to Aemulor, runs on the Iyonix and allows me to play with Arthur OS for the first time".
Yes, yes. We're also delighted at the irony of running an emulator on an emulator just to get mindlessly primitive Arthur (aka RISC OS 1) on your RISC OS 5 machine.
