Highlights we've been waiting forRISCOS Ltd.'s Foundation newsletter issued today to users has yanked on the golden cord, pulled back the red curtains and revealed the major highlights of the next release of RISC OS Select that the OS developers had until now been keeping under wraps.
"Building upon the work done in Select 1 and 2, Select 3 improves upon both the significant changes made to both the graphics and networking components as well as adding many new features", RISCOS Ltd. state in their emailed bulletin, forwarded this afternoon to drobe.co.uk by a reader. "The focus on Select 3 has been mostly based around stablising features from Select 2 and improving the desktop usability of the Operating system."
Major highlights include the new ability to highlight text in writeable icons to enable clipboard cut and pasting; The RISC OS Filer now also features a thumbnail view mode for graphics files; !Paint has been overhauled; alpha channel sprites are now supported at OS level and the OS also includes a recycle bin to catch file deletes.
