Discknight: We have Armclub's data guardian covered..

By Chris Williams. Published: 19th Oct 11:24:13 | Permalink | Printable

Data is a precious thing, many of us go to great lengths to protect it. However, if the unbelievable happens and your harddisc becomes corrupt then usually there is little you can do.

Granted, a fair few disc rescuers exsist but none so far for the new E+ disc format used by RISC OS 4 to give longer filenames and larger directories. In near perfect timing, the Armclub have released their own disc rescuer for the Epsom RISC OS 2000 show.
DiscKinght handles both the old E and new E+ FileCore formats, checks and fixes 64 different faults, and has a full undo feature in case of difficulties. You can check your harddisc now using their freeware checker (archive).

We spoke to David Ruck, of Armclub, who told us,
"..there will be a new easier to use front end with the full version (the one on the website with the checking only version, is a temporary solution)."

Priced at a very affordable 10, David also mentioned that quite a few overseas users have shown an interest so a non-sterling payment method will be shortly introduced.

DiscKnight is a much needed piece of software- Visit the Armclub DiscKnight site today.
