Drobe scales down for next few weeks

By Chris Williams. Published: 25th May 2003, 20:35:04 | Permalink | Printable

We'll be right back

Over the next two to three weeks, the drobe.co.uk editors will be engaged with pressing academic responsibilities and other work (but RISC OS related, naturally). So as a little warning, during this time, Drobe Launchpad sadly won't be as regularly updated as you've come to expect. We intend to resume normal operations in time for the June Big Ben RISC OS show. The bottom line is, you'll have to look for your daily sarcasm dose elsewhere, for a short while.

However, we consider all article submissions and if you think we've missed some news, please drop us a story.

Also, to keep things running smoothly, we've prepared a handy press release template optimised for any RISC OS developers, websites, companies or organisations planning on announcing something and therefore want to quickly grab our attention. Most RISC OS companies get press releases just right, although if in doubt - get the template out, fill in the obvious blanks and mail it off. Here it is:

From: Mr. Smith <press@companysite.co.uk>
To: news@drobe.co.uk
Subject: Company launches Product!

Company launches Product
Time, date

Location, date - Earlier today, Company completed Product and will be releasing Product to the unsuspecting RISC OS world in a move to significantly provide Selling Point. Product enables users to Concise Explaination Of What The Product Actually Does without the need to Slag Off Competition Here.

Product features Go On, List Some Key Points, more details, of course, can be found here: URL To Up-to-date Website. Convince Us Why Product Is Worthy Of An Article.

Reminder about who Company are

Thanks for reading Drobe.

"... why don't you get a real job, bleeding students!"

I suspect that what is going on now is aimed at improving the prospects of this!

"Best of luck with the exams!"

I'll second that. (Having had two sons at Cambridge, I have an idea of what's involved.)

"... why don't you get a real job, bleeding students!"

As someone with a job, and who has been a student, I could list a thousand and one reasons for staying a student and not getting a real job. Until you run out of beer money, anyway.

Not working the weekend? What you need is a good breakfast of gravel, and go down pit.

You mean there are still some left to go down? Anyway, "pit" normally means "coal mine", and they're boring. I'd quite happily go down any lead, copper, zinc, or barytes mines you've got handy.
