Wakefield VideosBy Peter Naulls. Published: 5th Jul 2003, 11:48:41 | Permalink | Printable
Evidence on tape [Updated 9:35 6/07/2003]Due to popular demand, we've aquired some videos from the Wakefield Show, courtesy of Julian Zimmerle. They include a quick tour of some of the stands at the show, Paul Middleton's enthusiastic talk about the wonders of Select 3, and David Atkins' talk explaining MicroDigital's difficulties in developing the Omega.
Julian assures us the reason he doesn't have Castle's presentation is because his batteries ran out on his new video camera.
Unfortunately (for you, we have plenty of space on drobe.co.uk), the videos are quite sizeable (29MB, 527MB and 419MB), so I hope you've got broadband. If there's demand, we might be able to make up CDs for a small donation covering the cost of media and postage to your favourite RISC OS portal (see the poll results).
Thanks again to Julian for providing these. We hope that we can make this a regular feature of shows.
I've produced some audio only MP3 streams which are slightly more digestable (but still large) versions of the two presentations - 20MB for the MicroDigital presentation and 25MB for the RISCOS Ltd one. These are 64kbps mono to keep the size down, which makes them lower quality than the original, but doesn't make much difference to audibility. There's a lot of background noise in the MD presentation, I'm afraid, but that's the same for original too.

Wind tunnel study RiscPC turns up on telly
Many of you were eagle-eyed enough to spot that a RiscPC appeared to be controlling a wind tunnel at the University of Kingston in London - which was featured in Richard Hammond's BBC 2 series Engineering Connections on the evening of Sunday, February 15. The particular episode looked into the A380 Super Jumbo. Let us know if you can shed any more light on the RiscPC's involvement at the university.
