A toast to the stars with ROASTBy Chris Williams. Published: 17th Aug 2003, 14:23:30 | Permalink | Printable
RISC OS and astronomy meet up onlineIt's a Sunday and therefore the most appropiate day to cover the new ROAST website, how witty of us. The RISC OS Astronomy mailing list's new website is aimed at RISC OS users interested in astronomy, meteorology and related sciences and currently offers:
- Picture galleries
- Tutorials on image processing with software such as Composition and Photodesk
- A guide to the RISC OS software currently available for astronomers and weather enthusiasts
- Sections on software and hardware that can be used in Astronomy related projects
The ROAST site is crafted by the same people behind the Vermilion Sands site and hosted by the usual suspects, NoughtPointOne.
"Contributions are welcome, especially to the picture galleries", webmaster Chris Terran told drobe.co.uk. "All levels of expertise are welcome, from beginners to advanced to astronomers of the armchair variety. You don't have to own a telescope!"
The progression of Lee Montgomerie and Chris Terran from Photodesk mastery to the capturing of space's beauty is very natural. The tutorials and photo galleries in particular get our thumbs up.
