RISCOS Ltd. AGM open to public

Annual insight into OS developer scheduled for September

RISCOS Ltd. logoThe developers of RISC OS 4, RISCOS Ltd., are once again holding an open annual general meeting in much the same way as the 2002 AGM.

The 2003 AGM is to be held on Friday 12th September at the Quy Mill Hotel in Cambridge and it's open to the general public as well as company shareholders. As usual, you have to drop RISCOS Ltd. an email beforehand to request an invitation and also send them any questions you want to raise in advance of the meeting.

The changeover of ownership of RISC OS will undoubtably be raised but it's a topic RISCOS Ltd. appear to unfazed by and are instead treating the whole affair with a 'business as usual' attitude. RISCOS Ltd.'s annual report might also emerge at the meeting as it's usually due around this time of the year. Also, let us not forget how much of a scream last year's AGM was. Something we couldn't have predicted in September last year, the fact that RISCOS Ltd. and VirtualAcorn eventually stopped feuding and fighting over alleged licensing agreements and piracy. Arh. There's always someone pleading for RISC OS companies to co-operate more and look, it can happen - in time for the Wakefield 2003 show, RISCOS Ltd. and VirtualAcorn teamed up for a VirtualRiscPC RISC OS 4 combination for the MicroDigital Alpha range. For this year, we're just hoping Paul Richardson has a holiday conveniently booked during September.

Also, RISCOS Ltd. earlier this month informed Select users that a new Toolbox modules release is on the cards with the new modules being reportedly compatible with RISC OS 3.1 to 5. More details on that when it happens.

Sounds like it should be fairly good. Are there free drinks and nibbles?

Yes, and there's a bar in the hotel. I will again be making an attempt to claim being closest to the AGM location. (Being ousted last year by someone in Bottisham, which is about 2 miles rather than my 3).

If I attend, would anyone be interested in a free A5000? I'm moving house and they're destined for the tip otherwise (I hate to do it but can't justify a leaning tower of Acorns in my room!)

That almost merits a drobe headline.

I think I'd prefer the drinks and nibbles.

Just noticed the year on RISC OS website it is 2002 not 2003. -- British by birth English by the Grace of God. [link]

Will RISC OS Ltd. be addressing the major missing links of Macromedia Flash and Director ports - or will this be left to Oregan if Sony wants it? Without it RISC OS sadly will continue to shrink its userbase and Castle can't sell into wider markets... and!

The flash spec is available for free, of course it's rather complicated. MM Director use seems to be waning since Flash got much better, and you'd need to write loads of xtras to get most things working, before you consider video codecs etc.

Why the comment about Paul Richardson?
