Select 3i3 quickly follows 3i2

Ladies and gentlemen, start your softloaders [Updated]

Select 3 motifA few readers have spotted that RISC OS Select 3i3 is now available online in the subscribers only download area. Due the SmartGroups downtime, users on the Select mailing list may not be notified of the Select 3i3 release until the end of the week. Select 3i2 was released just over a week ago.

The Select 3i3 online release so far consists of a new ROM image of RISC OS 4.37 (Kernel 6.52) and what looks like the result of a bug fixing exercise. According to the ROM image changelog, a palette bug in ColourTrans has been addressed (which in turn fixes a fault in !Paint's font painting tool) and the ConvertPNG, DCS_Quit, SpriteExtend, Zipper and ZLib components have been updated.

This week's ROM image release isn't exactly a major release and as RISCOS Ltd. will be homing in on a forthcoming stable CD release, fixing bugs and freezing features is a priority.

Update (15:52 19/9/2003)
RISCOS Ltd. have told us that they're now closed for a two week holiday and that Select 3 CDs are in the post as of today.

Could someone please give me a modules list from 3i2 before they upgrade for the modules DB. Instructions on [link] a 3i3 list would be appreciated too.

I see that they have replaced Pace with Castle on the banner, although the info box still only mentions pace.

The text from power, titled as "Warning" is from "Ashes" by Pain of Salvation from "The Perfect Element Pt 1" - see [link]

The text from confirm, titled as "Message from TaskManager" is from "The Perfect Element" from the same album by Pain of Salvation.

I hope you're suitably enlightened. -- Andy Wingate, Brighton

Actually the followup to their first call for help (locked up in a software factory) was "Help! We've been released from the software factory, and don't know what to do!"

I think this would have made a great running gag in Select. They could have followed up with something about having to work long hours from their homes and similar things. ;-)

Bah... *Another* faulty CD from RISC OS Ltd. :-(

I've had to download the upgrade - so much for paying more for the CD.
