Minor speedups and enhancements

A new version of the Simtec USB stack is available, as announced on the RISC OS USB website.

Version 1.55 reportedly fixes several minor issues, reduces the amount of system resources used and benefits from work done for Simtec's embedded customers. The updated stack and resources for developers are available online from the Simtec website.

Excellent! I hope that the scroll wheel problem with my Logitech mouse has been fixed.

Update went fine, and I updated to Select 3i3 while I was at it. Trying the mouse with the task display window, the mouse scroll *almost* worked, but it scolled the horizontal bar for a few seconds and then stopped working completely. After a restart, I can't get a peep out of it. No such luck with Ovation Pro, Edit or Zap either.

If anyone at all has got their scroll mouse working, can they please let me know? I have tried a Logitech cordless optical and a Logitech MX200. -- Simon Wilson, Boulder, Colorado

Trouble with wheel scrolling is it's hard to attach it to everything consistenly. Oregano has no scroll bars in frames so either it doesn't scroll, or you end up with all sorts of panes and dialogue boxes scrolling by mistake. Also the Scroll_Request wimp event doesn't support doing multiple lines at once so things go slow if you try to scroll Zap quickly :) Does the USB mouse do scrolling horizontally with the wheel, and page up/down if you hold shift? I've no idea about the nested windows used by browse. It's all fun though, although why anyone ever thought it was appropriate to use a mouse to scroll is beyond me, it just breaks everything ;) -- [link]
