Multimedia keyboard driver goes freeBy Chris Williams. Published: 30th Oct 2003, 23:54:41 | Permalink | Printable
STD gets into Christmas spirit, early [Updated]Stuart Tyrrell Developments, RISC OS arm of Advantage6, have made their driver for PS/2 'multimedia' keyboards available online for free. RiscPCs, A7000s and Omegas all sport PS/2 sockets, unlike the USB only Iyonix.
"The drivers, as supplied with our own MultiMedia Keyboard, are suitable for most current multimedia PS/2 keyboards, and may easily be modified to support extra functions as necessary", Stuart of AdvantageSix told us earlier in an email.
"!STDMMK enables functions to be associated with multi-media keypresses - for example shortcuts for WebsterXL web browser, CD controls, volume etc."
We're reminded of the time when drobe.co.uk gave away multimedia keyboards to a few lucky winnders, in association with Cerilica. Happy days.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this just in. Stuart Tyrrell has emailed us to say: "Despite the MMK drivers being offered without support, we've had a few requests to make it easier for people to add their own action files. I've just uploaded a new version of !STDMMK to the website which allows for this.
"Also I've set up an email address so that people can send in their favourite action files for us to publish."
