Archiology logoSee as we're all doing the Acorn time warp right now, thanks partly to the rise in emulator activity stirring romantic, nostalgic memories, it's a good time to note the relocation of Mike Gilbert's Archiology site.

Mike's site hosts a collection of official disc images mostly from the mid-Acorn era of 1987 to 1992 - the golden, buggy, pre-StrongARM years of Arthur, RISC OS 2 and 3. There's also a set of discs that were passed to ISVs, aka 'independent software developers'.

"Most of this stuff should also run under emulation on a Windows PC", Mike notes on the site. "Various dealers have jumped onto the bandwagon, and are bundling VRPC with PC clones. My personal feeling is that this is not a good idea."

I wish Lander would work with RISC OS 4 :( Now I'm going to have to faff about with an emulator to play it.

I'd like to see Conqueror converted. Surely if RISC OS 4 could get its source converted and 'released' by that 'Pace team' into 32bit then some of these old Acorn games could too?

Just to say that I've added a Contact page to the site, in case anyone wants to ask for or offer stuff.

And to see who is using what to get there, [link] is interesting.
