RISC OS 5 UpdatesBy Peter Naulls. Published: 19th Feb 2004, 15:31:37 | Permalink | Printable
USB, Video and other fixes [Updated]It has been quite some time since the last RISC OS 5 update last year, so drobe.co.uk was interested to see that a new version, 5.05, was made available for Iyonix users today.
In a typically downplayed manner, John Ballance stated: "The main changes reflect improved resetting, and a heavily updated USB stack." The former issue addresses positive resets of the video cards, and other items in the machine. We're not sure if the latter USB improvements, apart from fixing various mass storage bugs, also contain enhancements for USB HID support (Human Interface Device - mice, keyboards, joysticks, etc), for which driver development has been hinted at by various parties.
The changes list also shows that a number relatively minor issues spotted by Iyonix users have also been addressed by this build that will nonetheless be welcomed by those they afflict.
The positive reset changes for the video card mean that Iyonix Linux users will need a new kernel or they will not have any video. This can be found on my Iyonix Linux page.
RISC OS 5 Update - needs Iyonix Update Watcher to fetch.
