The NetBSD project has imported Gavan Fantom's port of NetBSD for the Iyonix into its source tree. Although Gavan demonstrated a NetBSD powered Iyonix playing MP3s at a recent RISC OS show, he told drobe.co.uk that he was waiting for the port to stabilise before handing over the source code.
The Iyonix port now joins similar projects, such as the Acorn32 port, as an officially listed NetBSD project.
The Iyonix is an Intel IOP80321 XScale powered desktop computer, which also dabbles in the embedded arena, and NetBSD is a Unix based, open source operating system.
