Alligata Media have republished online Richard Hallas' popular DTP Principles guide. You can download a copy of the 20 page booklet in PDF format for free from the link below.
The guide was produced on Richard's Iyonix with Ovation Pro and it should appeal to everyone interested in DTP, from casual users to budding sub-editors. It's also written from a general, software and platform independent view point, so it doesn't really matter what OS and DTP software you prefer to use. It even explains how to use apostrophes properly, which gets our vote.
The guide first appeared as a surprise present for RiscWorld subscribers, and later, as a separate publication. There's also something vaguely ironic about a guide to producing print publications being reprinted in electronic form on the web.
Update at 13:02 22/4/2005
Richard Hallas has now created and uploaded two releases of the book, both in PDF format: a high quality version and a low quality version. The low quality version is suitable for low end PDF readers, such as !PDF, and the high quality version is for everything else.
We had originally mirrored an earlier version on Drobe, but you should probably now fetch the book direct from Richard.
