True to their word, Spellings Software have publically released a beta version of the Geminus graphics acceleration driver this week. Those who paid for the upgrade can now test drive the features, which include hardware accelerated sprite and line plotting.Using the Iyonix's Nvidia GeForce 2 graphics card, window redraw operations are cached so future plots happen instantaneously - more details on the benefits of the hardware acceleration support are in the South East show report. The overall effect is that the desktop should become faster to use and more efficient. One Geminus user described the release as "terrific".
Geminus, developed by Aemulor author Adrian Lees, also supports multiple screens and rotated displays.
