Scan direct to PD and fixes for Iyonix users

Photodesk logoBitmap graphics package PhotoDesk has been updated and a new version will go on sale from this Saturday. The software has been improved and tweaked, and a new release is ready to ship at the South East show on October 20.

CJE boss Chris Evans confirmed: "There is a new version of PhotoDesk with various improvements and bugfixes. To get an update, PhotoDesk users should bring their original PhotoDesk CD with them to the show."

It's understood version 3.08 will allow punters to scan artwork directly into PhotoDesk via Twain and, for Iyonix users, selecting areas of an image is now much faster. In previous versions, selecting a portion of a picture with a 'marching ants' line bordering the selection would bring an Iyonix to a crawl. This code has reportedly been completely rewritten. An issue involving PhotoDesk using areas of 'high memory' on Iyonixes fitted with 1GB or more of RAM has also been addressed and fixed.

CJE Micros absorbed the PhotoDesk package in June 2004. After it was made 32bit-safe by David Ruck, development was taken over by DeskDebug author Niklaus Weiss.

Upgrades to the new version of PhotoDesk cost 20 quid. The South East show takes place in Guildford, Surrey, on Saturday October 20 from 10am. CJE Micros, who will be exhibiting at the event, will also be selling Iyonix compatible Sound Blaster PCI cards as well as their usual range of hardware and software products.
