Simtec Electronics have sponsored the development of a Debian GNU/Linux boot disc for ARM processor powered computers.
The boot disc supports Simtec's ARM7 development board, StrongARM board and ARM9 board when it appears and other recognised ARM platforms such as the Netwinder and the LART. The disc therefore supports the RiscPC architecture.
Changes arising from the development of the 'not-yet-official' disc will be fed into the next official Debian 3.0r2 release, Simtec say.
Debian is a free operating system that employs tools from the GNU project with the Linux kernel.
