If you go to the Linux Expo being held at Olympia on 8th and 9th October, you can see all the latest offering from IBM, Sun and HP as well as a host of smaller players. Everyone except Microsoft has some sort of presence there.
As you stroll around looking for the next big thing in IT, you may be curious to catch a glimpse of a familiar looking blue button on a PC box, although the text only command line does not really do justice to the Iyonix's graphics or speed. You might also notice some names and faces which remind you of the RISC OS world.
Indeed, there was a whole crowd of RISC OS faces. Simtec was showing off its ARM development boards and the Iyonix was there with Peter Naulls to show off Linux running on Castle's latest baby.
The word RISC OS may not have been highlighted but then this was not the appropriate time. However, it was great to see companies still active in the RISC OS market out there, drumming up business which can only be good for us in the long term.
Maybe drobe.co.uk should run a competition to see just what unexpected places Iyonix boxes and other ARM Linux solutions are turning up?
