A RISC OS print driver for a Kodak thermal dye printer is now available from Stuart Tyrrell Developments and supports both the Simtec and Iyonix USB systems.
The supported printer, the Kodak Printer Dock 6000, uses thermal dye transfer printing on special card to produce high quality edge-to-edge prints. Users can either plug the printer directly into a suitable Kodak digital camera or a USB enabled RISC OS machine.
The availability of the driver for the two rival USB systems is refreshing news, especially given STD's previous feelings towards Castle, the developers of the Iyonix. Castle will also be demonstrating the Kodak printer at tomorrow's South West show and the printer bundle will feature in Castle MD Jack Lillingston's theatre presentation - which is a relief because having talked about the Iyonix for at least a year's worth of RISC OS events, we feel Jack could do with some new material.
A suitable driver for VirtualRiscPC users will also be made available soon.
