Riscster mailing list opened: Napster client also treated to new versionBy Chris Williams. Published: 19th Feb 21:45:00 | Permalink | Printable
In the world of internet file 'sharing', napster.com is probably the first service that springs to mind. Hunted down by record companies for encouraging the illegal distribution of copyrighted material, napster allows users to trade music, in the form of mp3 files, over the internet. While the lawsuits continue, the fate of the 'official' napster servers looks uncertain. So in a bid to keep people using napster with their RISC OS machines, Riscster author Rob Diamond has set up a smartgroups.com mailing list to allow people to share tips and information regarding napster.
Riscster is the RISC OS client that enables a RISC OS machine to connect to napster servers.
"The idea is so that I can get feedback about Riscster and respond to it more effectively", explains Rob in his announcement today. "The mailing list is also a convenient way to find out about new versions and share tips... which might be especially useful now the 'official' Napster servers may be closing down."
A new version, 1.16B is also available from the Riscster website.
