Another round of Software updates By . Published: 19th Jan 2003, 13:05:23 | Permalink | PrintableWe do another weekly rundown of the latest software updates WimpBar 2 v1.67
(http://www.t220.com/wb2)
Technium 220 have released a new version of WimpBar 2. Iyonixification is one thing, but they've also done some new features - a 'hidden bar' mode, which makes the bar appear only when the mouse pointer is held a the top of the screen. There's also a help FAQ and a discussion forum on their website
Home Accounts 1.24b
(http://www.ksedwards.ukgateway.net/account2/)
Kevin Edwards' basic accounting package, Home Accounts, has had a clutch of new features added, including transaction limits, marking of transfers to highlight income tax or tax deductable expenses, generation of tax liability reports, a new transaction details window to get more information about transactions and improvement to date input. There's some bugfixes, too: A bug in the year rollover on automatic transfers has been fixed, more accurate positioning of the write cursor and correct positioning of pasted transactions when faster redraw is selected. Kevin has also fixed some file loading problems which appeared in v1.24. Oh, and it's been Iyonixified.
WimpMon 2
(http://www.compton.nu/wimpmon.html)
Tom Hughes' handy Wimp message monitor, WimpMod, has been freshly released as version 2.00. Apparently it's a complete rewrite, with new features such as the monitoring of Toolbox events, pluggable event decoding modules, a wider range of supported messages and, you guessed it, Iyonixness.
Remane 1.1
(http://users.argonet.co.uk/users/tudor/english/sharewr.htm)
Jochen Lueg continues to produce handy niknaks and his latest is called Remane (no, that's not a typo). Remane is a batch file renaming utility which allows you to change the filename of a whole pile of files in one go. Remane is born of Jochen's previous utility 'NumberFix' which will not be developed any more, as Remane offers a broader set of features. This news editor particularly likes the add-date-and-dos-extension feature. If you deal with lots of files and find yourself manually renaming them in laborious fashion, Remane could be just what you're looking for.
Enigma 1.31
(http://www.xat.nl/enigma/)
Paul Reuvers' Enigma machine emulator has had a redraw bug fixed. If you're still trying to decode Nazi messages, this might be just what you need. ;-)
USBInfo 0.42
(http://www.xat.nl/en/riscos/sw/usb/)
Paul Reuvers has also produced a utility for users of Castle's USB card as well as Iyonix, which displays detailed information about the USB system. This new release copes with Castle changing the USB API apparently.
MouseAxess 0.17i
(http://lightning.prohosting.com/~cfloeter)
Christian Floeter has added *snore* Iyonix compatibility for this handy desktop utility.
32bitty bits
(http://www.quantumsoft.co.uk/druck/)
David Ruck is Iyonixifying a mixed bag of old programs whose authors can't be contacted any more. David has put his patched versions on a website for all with a clear notice that it's done without authors' permission. Drop by the website to see if anything you've produced has gone up there without your notice (This seems kinda common for 32bit patching in general).
