AMS: Deception != False Impression. And I'm yet to see any evidence that anybody who sells VARPC based machines are intentionally misleading customers, and I'd imagine they'd thank you for not insinuating it.

Actually, it does the sensible thing which all modern OSes do: buffer the writes until the machine is less busy. It's also got a lot to do with the quality of the drivers and the hardware driving them. Less FUD please, AMS. (And Windows, since 2000, has had a journaled file system.)
