Yes, I'm inclined to agree (that O3 is a waste of resources) but if that's the case, why do you reckon people will pay good money for it? I suspect that O3 will go ahead but will not attract a large number of purchases and that will be that for the Oregano story. (Assuming Firefox and Netsurf continue being actively developed I guess.)
