My experience with the Grapevine mailing list is that on the whole people do not use it as a substitute for technical support. Bugs are sometimes reported on the list, usually with a "sorry, never got round to reporting this before" but it's not the general rule and anyway I would rather know about the bugs than have them kept quiet for another year. The main value for me is that I get to listen to what people think about the software and what they want from it in the future, and to let them know that I'm listening.
