SimonC: Sorry, I cannot follow that reasoning. Whoever wants to go on without paying anything can continue using the renderer everyone has had for the past years, i.e., without transparency support. So, if you had to choose between alternative A and B which one would you choose?

A) Free renderer available, without support for transparency B) Free renderer available, without support for transparency *plus* chargeable renderer available with transparency support

Nobody loses anything, nobody has to pay for anything if he does not want to. Do you really want me to *not* offer this great new piece of software, just because somebody might say "It is too expensive"?

By the way: I think your assessment of the situation is completely wrong: In my experience people leave the market *"because there is nothing to buy"*.
