rjek, jwoody: you seem to be saying that, even after a substantial amount of development, if not effective rewriting, to incorporate PMT, virtual memory and the I/O block, RISC OS will still struggle to match Linux on ARM for embedded systems etc. What then is the point of ROOL, or any further development?
Community-produced RISC OS 5.14 in final testing A RISC OS 5 ROM image produced from RISC OS Open's shared source project and code contributed by volunteer programmers has been submitted to Castle for testing. Once it has passed a round of QA, Castle, aka Iyonix Ltd, is expected to ship the new ROM image to end users. A copy of the ROM image, which is suitable for XScale-powered Iyonix computers, is available for download now for anyone crazy enough to test it on their hardware. ROOL's Steve Revill said: "This ROM build includes a snapshot of all the latest updates and submissions to the shared source project from the community." 14 comments, latest by jlavallin on 14/12/08 10:36AM.
