RISC OS has many down sides from it's lack of development for sure and it is frustrating at times.
But I still use my RiscPC600 with RO 4.02 for most of my school work.
I enjoy a RO Word processor like Impression, it does all I need so simple and in a most user friendly way.
It even stays on the Icon Bar, it is annoying using my laptop with XP Windows when Word has to load every time I open or close a file.
My school issue laptop is riddled with virus protection software, it takes ages to start and is slow while AVG AntiVirus or LarvaSoft is checking for viruses in the background while I am supposed to be able to work undistracted.
The Windows slow shutdown procedure is a pain, especially when I mess up the destop and it saves my mess. I am told that I cannot kill that Windows shutdown procedure? I would rather a RO style of settings preset manually and shutdown is instant.
I have never ever had a virus on RO too, I started using my school Windows laptop about 5 months ago and it was hit twice in the first month with SpyAxe virus.
I still in many ways still prefer RISC OS for normal computer tasks that RO is able to cope with.
It's funny how RO still has a lot of pluses (+++).
