I agree with you about the technical quality of Linux and its price:) The Linux community has fought off Microsoft in the past specifically to protect the freedom of computer users.

As I said, I cannot comment on the functionality of any RO browser, but Netsurf is a browser that is developed on RO and ported to other OS, such as Linux. Google have asked the authors to provide mentorship during their "summer of code".

I think in the case of RO, the best choice for doing anything is the one that takes least effort at the moment. In your view, that would at least minimise the waste of effort. I don't really care whether it's a waste of effort or not. Personally, I would like to see how RO performs on new hardware and if somebody wants to spend time doing that, I'm happy for them to do so. I'm even happy to pay a few quid if it works out.

I have to agree that multicore processing provides better value than multi-threading, and I can't really argue with the idea of ARM submitting to customer demands. But I think ARM will have already considered hyperthreading, and have decided against it because they get a better return from speculative out of order execution (It's to do with condition codes).
