Since its initial release at least 400000 pounds have been invested in the development of RISC OS 4 prior to its 32-bitting. Why should that be thrown away for a 32-bitted OS (RISC OS 5), that is otherwise mostly at the development stage of the initial release of RISC OS 4? Today it is a lot easier to convert software to be 32-bit-clean than it was when RO5 was 32-bitted, because all the tools necessary are there now, where as for RO5 they had to be developed first and a lot was probably done by hand. So it is probably less work to 32-bit RISC OS 4 and make it Iyonix compatible, than it is to develop RO5 to the stage wich RO4 has evolved to. Hopefully this will happen in cooperation with Castle, to utilise the many man-years of work they put into driver development.
