Hi Monty

I’m pretty sure that Henrik Pedersen was the original author of CineWorks, so it might be worth contacting him, to see if he will let you have a copy of the 1998, MPEG- capable version of his program.

The problem with digital video on RISC OS was that, before the 1998 version, you needed a £500 digitiser card to get your own footage into Replay format, and the quality was severely limited by the hard drive speed on your RiscPC.

Now, however, with FFMpeg’s ability to convert many more video formats to MPEG, which can be played with KinoAmp, the MPEG version of CineWorks should be much more useful than it ever has been, if anybodycan rescue it, especially if some brave soul volunteers to 32 bit it !!!!!!!

See if you can get in touch with Henrik, and let us know how you get on.

A low-cost computer-controlled Braille board has been prototyped by a RISC OS-using university student. Undergraduate Edward Rogers hopes to sell his completed units for as little as 200 quid each to schools and families to allow more blind children to continue learning Braille. And he said he wanted to launch his venture using RISC OS-powered kit before offering a package for other platforms.
