At present, Wimp_Poll returns a reason code (event) and the task chooses the subroutine thread) that handles it.

The suggestion was that the task of choosing the routine could be handled by the WIMP. The WIMP then does not have to encode the event as a reason code, and the task does not have to decode it. Typically, decoding would be carried out in C/C++ by a case{} statement with 27+ comparisons. The case statement would then call a subroutine, with the overhead of (at least) 1 APCS call. While this bottleneck may be insignificant in itself, removing bottlenecks throughout code is the approach favoured by Steve Jobs (Apple) to improve responsiveness.

In fact, the suggestion impinges on another area of the disucssion. In a multiprocessor system (the Cortex A9 can have 4 cores, but it won't stop there), A single application can only take advantage of more than one core if the OS sees it as more than one entity (thread).
