Run the Risc book considered By Chris Williams. Published: 8th Sep 2004, 08:26:09 | Permalink | PrintableHardware hands on [Updated] Mike Cook is said to be considering publishing his Run the Risc series of hardware articles as a book. Although no immediate timescales were mentioned, Mike is keen to see his work compiled into a single collection, possibly even as an online e-book.
The popular Run the Risc series ran from May 1995 until around 1999, and was published monthly in Acorn User magazine. It usually covered 'hands on' DIY electronics to interface projects to RISC OS computers, and included topics such as PIC microcontrollers and the I2C bus.
Mike was also responsible for the Body Building series of hardware articles, published in Micro User during the early Acorn era. Mike's articles were originally mirrored online on a Manchester Metropolitan University website, however after he left the university, the documents reportedly disappeared.
Recent efforts by a colleague still at the university though have meant that the articles are available again here, although the university appears to be suffering DNS problems right about now.
Update at 20:46 8/9/2004
Andy Wiseman, a senior lecturer at mmu.ac.uk, has said this evening that the DNS issues have been resolved, and that Mike's articles have moved to here.
