Microsoft protester settles out of court Published: 17th Jun 2006, 22:53:14 | Permalink | PrintableRISC OS user continues fight with OFT A RISC OS user taken to the High Court by the government over an anti-Microsoft protest says his case has concluded. Tarquin Mills was due to continue his battle in December after he created parodies of the Office of Fair Trading website at oft.me.uk. He has since handed the unofficial domains over, which were initially used to poke fun at the OFT for what Tarq claimed was a lack of action against Microsoft's dominant position in the personal computer market.
He said: "The case has now ended with an agreed settlement. On Friday June 26, I got the letter ending the High Court case with the Office of Fair Trading. A joint agreement was drawn up between myself and them, neither side got any money out the settlement but a few meaningless pieces of badly photocopied paper."
Tarq is now keen to find out just how many complaints the OFT have received about Microsoft to bolster his campaign.
He added: "The Reboot Movement has started a rolling advertising campaign in Linux Format magazine. I also sent the OFT a Freedom of Information request asking for the details of all complaints about Microsoft, they have until the 23rd to respond."
