Publicise RISC OS and win a prizePublished: 18th Jun 2006, 17:21:44 | Permalink | Printable
Spread the word, deadline ThursdayA popular news website for alternative operating systems is giving punters the chance to promote their platform of choice in an article writing contest. Online news broker OSNews.com has invited RISC OS users and users of other non-mainstream OSes to each write a feature article describing their experiences with their preferred platform.
The competition offers niche communities the chance to publicise their favourite OS to a large online audience.
Editor Adam Scheinberg said: "Basically, tell us how your OS works, and how it's different from everything else we've used.
"At its core, OSNews is a site driven by interesting content about alternative operating systems. As such, we're introducing the 'OSNews Alternative OS Contest', which is aimed at getting back to our roots and generating interest and publicity in alternative operating systems."
Windows, Mac OS, Linux, BSD and Solaris fans need not apply.
Prizes for the best pieces include subscriptions to the portal, books, an MP3 player and other goodies. You'll have to get your skates on, as the closing date is Thursday June 22.
• Drobe.co.uk is seeking article writers and news moles to keep the site updated during the week. Anyone willing with enough free time to spare to contribute to Drobe, or anyone with article ideas, should get in touch.
