Christmas 2008 show photosBy James Shaw. Published: 7th Dec 2008, 16:40:49 | Permalink | Printable
The Midlands Christmas 2008 RISC OS show has been and gone and turned out to be a pretty timid yet relaxed affair - there was a steady stream of punters for a few hours. Next year's event has been arranged for Saturday, December 5, 2009.
The most interesting thing at the show was an Iyonix on the RISC OS Open stand running a ROM built from the RISC OS 5 shared sources - proving that a free downloadable RISC OS 5 ROM image is now viable. The OS identified itself as RISC OS Shared 5.14. R-Comp had version 1.03 of their backup package SafeStore, which has better FTP support and a number of speed-ups. Also, a BBC Micro caught fire and a bloke won some statistics software in a raffle.

The show seemed to be a very relaxed affair.
