RiscStation Latetop updateBy Chris Williams. Published: 19th Apr 2003, 23:01:31 | Permalink | Printable
Customer finally refundedContrary to recent concerns in the user community that RiscStation have stopped refunding portable deposit holders, we've heard from Charles Hope, an ex-RiscStation customer, who today told us all about his deposit ordeal.
The good news is that Charles has been finally refunded after he pulled out of the hapless portable project. He placed a full deposit (almost 1500 quid) after being told by RiscStation that he would be at the top of the queue to receive a new RISC OS powered laptop which were to be delivered in early 2002.
Due to "absolutely no comunication from RiscStation" and despite promises from RiscStation's spin doctor that they would be in contact to discuss the late laptop, Charles wrote to RiscStation on the 26th of March this year to request a refund on his full deposit. After no reply whatsoever from RiscStation (not even a phone call, email or letter), the full deposit was quietly refunded to Charles' credit card on the 11th this month after Charles resorted to writing to his credit card company.
So it appears punters can get their money back if they can put up with RiscStation's distinctively oh so efficacious communication skills.
And on top of this, we're also told that Archive magazine have lately told their readers that a portable, and not necessarily a RiscStation one, will be possibly appearing at the Wakefield show this May. Facts? We'll let you know if we get hold of any on this rumour.
