Wakefield 2004 prize draw details By Chris Williams. Published: 28th Mar 2004, 16:49:41 | Permalink | PrintableA6 PC, Iyonix vouchers and more up for grabs
The Wakefield 2004 show organisers, the WROCC, have confirmed that they are running another series of prize draws this year, while announcing details of the goodies on offer. We've learnt that STD are also sponsoring the 'Small Developer Community stands' and Castle are sponsoring the organisers' walkie-talkie gear.
The two top show prizes feature the two corners of the RISC OS market: an A6 WindowsXP PC with 17" LCD monitor and a 500UKP Iyonix voucher are up for grabs along with other prizes that include RiscPC upgrades, 100UKP Iyonix vouchers and copies of VirtualRiscPC. The full list is as follows:
- First prizes
- A6 with 17" LCD monitor (donated by STD and drawn on Sunday afternoon but Sunday and Saturday ticket holders are eligible). An existing A6 owner can claim a refund equal to the machine's value, if they win.
Voucher for money off an Iyonix purchase at the show, worth 500UKP (donated by Castle and drawn on Saturday afternoon). - Second prizes
- Up to 150UKP worth of RiscPC expansion upgrades from STD (drawn on Saturday).
Five vouchers for money off an Iyonix purchase at the show, worth 100UKP (drawn on Saturday). - Other prizes
- Two copies of VirtualRiscPC. 250UKP worth of vouchers from APDL. Magazine subscriptions and more.
Each prize is open to ticket holders who fill in the required prize entry form before the time of a particular draw, although advance ticket holders are automatically entered into the Castle Iyonix voucher draw. Castle have also a few conditions on their voucher prizes, namely: you can only use the vouchers at the show, you can only purchase an Iyonix with them and you can use them in conjunction with any other Iyonix offers.
The show is scheduled to be a two day affair, on the 15th and 16th of May in Wakefield, UK. Last year's prizes included two Microdigital Omegas, one of which the ARM Club won and published a review of in their Eureka magazine despite Microdigital trying their best to keep the machine out of the hands of the press. While this year's prize draw will probably not see a similar ironic conclusion, the range of prizes (from emulation to the latest native hardware to RiscPC upgrades) is welcome. The WROCC should have no trouble attracting punters through the doors this year - we'll see you there.
