Ger van Vugt has announced the launch of a new Dutch usergroup, which will be part of the much larger HCC computer usergroup.
Although the Netherlands based Big Ben Club has already been around for over two decades, Ger told us that he wanted to open a usergroup that had close connections with the HCC, in order to present RISC OS to a wider European mainland audience.
The first run of meetings hope to cover the release of some new software from the group (more news on that later, we're told), and just to provide a social get together for likeminded RISC OS users.
The founding meeting takes place on 11th September in Houten (near Utrecht), if you're in the area.

Encouraging to see new groups emerge instead of disappear like the past odd few years!
What does the letters HCC mean?
(I can't read the Dutch site language)
"...in order to present RISC OS to a wider European mainland audience", what about calling the new user group " E.U.R.O. Users " (European United RISC OS Users) or just EURO. ? That's "if" the English meaning makes any sense in so many European languages?
Just a thought?
Regards, Steve. |

I think this is very good news, because it (once again) means a strong base for the Dutch RO users. The HCC is a well known organisation in Holland, which offers many special services only an organisation of this size can offer. The HCC was known to be founded on accepting all kinds of computer system. Not too long ago, I read an article in a very well known dutch pc mag in which a regular column mentions RISC OS and asks anyone member of HCC to join the RISC OS GG (Gebruikers Groep - User Group) initiative to strengthen its userbase and get more support within HCC. It now looks like it has paid off
The BBC club has lost a great number of members since the downfall of Acorn and I never was really charmed by their mentality and club events. Ofcourse, they're the main guys behind the Expo every year and that does deserve a lot of credit.
