Speed tweaks and other improvements
Aemulor logoThe Aemulor team have announced a number of updates and tweaks to their Aemulor software. Running Aemulor on an Iyonix computer allows users to run legacy software on the new 32bit architecture.

"This is a bug-fix release chiefly aimed at bringing Aemulor users up-to-date with the corrections and enhancements from which Aemulor Pro users already benefit", Aemulor's Neil Spellings explained.

"There have been a couple of further minor corrections and compatibility improvements since the release of Aemulor Pro 2.30, so Pro users may still find it beneficial to upgrade to 2.31."

A list of the tweaks is here, including fixes for issues with 26bit filing systems and toolsprites in the spreadsheet Eureka.

The Aemulor team will also be previewing "the next release of [Aemulor] Pro with improved low-bpp screen emulation" at next month's South East RISC OS show. Aemulor will be exhibiting alongside other confirmed companies, including Castle, RISCOS Ltd. and VirtualAcorn, although as yet there's no mention of STD or Microdigital.

And the Eureka window gadgets are well and truly fixed, the funny colours banished. It has no effect on functionality at all but it seems so much nicer to use now.

I'm pleased too! Eureka's columns can now be resized AND it is so much faster than under ARM610 emulation.

Still feels sluggish to me. It's one of the apps I'm particularly hoping to speed up with the planned changes to Pro.

OK! I'll upgrade to Pro soon. Honest.

In reply to DaveW:
there's no speed difference between Aemulor & Pro currently. Further speed increases will likely be added to Pro alone. (Just wanted to make sure that's understood.)
