Out with the old and in with the news: Acorn Cybervillage is ditching the green nut to become The RISC OS Cybervillage.
Alligata Media's Dave Bradforth, a freelance journalist and RISCDomain editor, just recently took over the site from founder Stuart Halliday, promising a site redesign. The change in the website's URL may remind you of when Stuart decided to redirect Cybervillage readers to 'porn', in 2002.
"The Acorn Cybervillage is currently undergoing a facelift. It's going to be a gradual thing, with the new design introduced formally in a week or so," said Dave today.
"After five years as The Acorn Cybervillage, despite the end of Acorn being around the start of that period, we're renaming as The RISC OS Cybervillage. This will provide an online home for all material previously published on The Acorn Cybervillage plus also a base for the downloadable versions of the RISCDomain magazine."
The PC resources pages and a number of links have also been trimmed from the website. Acorn Cybervillage was created in 1995 by Alan Wrigley and Stuart Halliday and was a popular online rumour mill during the final years of the Acorn era.

The Acorn Cybervillage was never run by Alan Wrigley and I kept the Acorn name because I felt it sounded better than 'RISC OS Cybervillage'.
But David obviously feels differently.
P.S. Link - Cybverillage? I think you've got a wee spelling error there. |
