Companies going on the record

The organisers of next month's Wakefield event have tentatively drawn up a timetable of show theatre presentations. This should give the companies addressing the crowds just under 25 days to prepare some new material to surprise us with. Each talk is expected to last about 45 minutes each, give or take the usual grilling from the more cynical punters present.

On Saturday, Castle will kick start the day at 10.30am, with a talk modestly called "Castle Matters" - a title seemingly stolen from your average day time chat show. Teasing us with corporate buzzwords, Advantage 6 will be lecturing us on "Getting the Advantage" at 11.30am. Icon Technology will be touting their EasiWriter and TechWriter software at 12.30pm, and similarly, MW Software will be entertaining us with Artworks 2 features at 2pm. The Simon Cowell of RISC OS, Drobe man Peter Naulls will be revealing his RISC OS Firefox port at 3pm. Finally, at 4pm, that cutting edge of journalism, Qercus will be discussing "Opportunities for the Future".

Then on Sunday, Qercus again at 10.50am, Advantage Six at 11.50am, Icon Technology at 12.50pm and Castle at 2.15pm.

The Wakefield show, celebrating its 10th birthday, is set to be held on May 21 and 22, in Yorkshire.

So instead of a video of David Atkins getting excited about the Omega being ready, we have a caricatured stick man gesticulating wildly? And can Martin and I be promised an accurate rendering of our suits?

(deliberately misunderstanding your last comment) @mrchocky: I guess it should not be too hard to get the same level of similarity between you and your flash avatar as there is between you and your Drobe photo...
hEgelia 29/4/05 10:33AM	"...Peter Naulls will be revealing his RISC OS Firefox port at 3pm." May I take this as a first public beta, Peter? It would surely be very nice for users abroad and/or users unable to attend to be able to watch a few video's of the presentations.

sascott 4/5/05 3:01AM	@mr chocky: hmm, I wasn't thinking of the stick animation thing, but it sounds a better idea than what I was thinking, which is rather boring in comparison! Which is, proper video, but played via the Flash player. It can be done now on latest Flash player. No large plugins to download to play a video anymore. MPEGs and AVIs are real tedious on a dialup, at least Flash videos have a better chance of playing on such network speeds. As for accurate rendering of suits, well, it entirely depends on what you are wearing. It's much easier to animate if you are wearing no clothes
