RISC OS 5.09 beta released By Chris Williams. Published: 19th May 2005, 21:52:25 | Permalink | PrintableBug-fixed USB and other updates Castle have provided a beta ROM image of RISC OS 5.09 for Iyonix users, prior to an official post-Wakefield roll out of the new version. The beta release includes "updated USB" support, although Castle's John Ballance added: "Be aware this is unlikely to improve the behaviour of any new 'pens' or cameras which currently [aren't supported]. That will have to await further improvements in the USB Mass storage drivers."
In addition to the beta ROM, Castle have also rolled out an update to the Iyonix disc based software: an updated PDumperLJ, a utility to format USB based storage devices with a RISC OS filecore filesystem and other tweaks.
Castle are continuing their 350 quid cash back offer for Iyonix computers fitted with a DVD burner, until the end of the Wakefield show on Sunday.
