RISC OS on an iMac looks neat, but I'd rather have seen a shot of it running on an Iyonix. That would look even better I hope it's a success for everyone who goes to Birmingham this evening, and personally I'm looking forward to visiting the Manchester event tomorrow! I spoke to Paul Middleton at the Birmingham event and he stated that they were looking to have something out for the Iyonix Qtr2 2006 though this may not be a full Select4 version. Again he urged caution on the dates/what is delivered but at least it seems positive to me. It seems that Select4 and 32bit RISCOS4 are running neck and neck for delivery dates. Apart from that it was a good event and I managed to upgrade to Easiwriter 8.50 plus talk to some of the other exhibitors. bluenose on 15/12/05 9:59PM [ Reply | Permalink | Report ]

markee174: Yes, good call. It's been quiet for a while now, I wonder how progress is going. Can a release date be approximated? I look forward to a new version of Grapevine, hopefully enhanced by some of the improvements users have suggested on the mailing list. I also hope R-Comp can be bothered to send its userbase (and the media) some kind of plan how they would like Grapevine development to continue. It now seems to be up to users to convince R-Comp of the viability of the project. Grapevine is the only chat client on RISC OS which supports the MSN chat protocol. Since millions of people use this daily to communicate, I believe it should be a high priority the project is continued. In my case, it is often more important than E-mail, so frankly I am astounded as to the apparent low-profile status of this 21st century mode of communication. And yes, I know relatively few people seem to be interested in buying Grapevine, which is a shame really since it seriously hinders its development. Hopefully Select 4 will be released sooner than a full 32 bit RO4, since I believe more people are very anxious to see this seriously delayed project be released. I was there, and as usual everyone was very friendly. The array of A9s was very impressive in appearance (particularly the machine augumented with 4 fans) as well as performance. a good show at a comfortable venue. my chauffuse was able to sit in the middle on an armchair doing a crossword and letting me get on with tallking to the stall holders and buying upgrades - netfetch, uniprint 2, artworks 2.5. and, after signing a stricly-no-whinging agreement (in blood), I was allowed to walk out with an A9 in flight case (Matt's) with blue fan.
