Christmas roadshow news By Chris Williams. Published: 15th Dec 2005, 17:02:39 | Permalink | PrintableNew Techwriter, UniPrint and Grapevine teasers, 32 bit ROS 4 and more The three day Christmas RISC OS roadshow has begun this evening, starting at the West Bromwich Albion football club, near Birmingham. The events were arranged by RISCOS Ltd. in hope of treating punters who couldn't make it to the various larger shows this year. A number of exhibitors are travelling around England to present their wares, although we're not expecting any major surprises.
Disaster, however, struck for CJE Micros when boss Chris Evans dislocated his knee cap while loading up a van with stock yesterday evening. The big hearted dealer, who earlier this year competed in a triathlon to raise cash for charity, says he will make it to the Birmingham event but may need help with some heavy lifting.
Icon Technology will be releasing version 8.50 of Easiwriter and Techwriter at the roadshow. This will include the previously reported structure bars, improved object guides, coloured borders, amongst other features. Users who update to this latest version can also pick up a free A9home compatible beta release of Techwriter to test drive. Upgrade costs start from 30 quid.
The roadshow will be a "low key" affair for R-Comp, who are bringing products they released at the Guildford show. Andrew Rawnsley said: "There will, of course be some updated versions of things. For example, UniPrint 2.01 shipped a couple of weeks ago, and we're testing a new Grapevine and Hermes, although those updates won't be ready until just before Christmas."
There is no official word yet on what RISCOS Ltd. plan to do now that the Iyonix Select pledge campaign has exceeded its target of 100 subscribers, although ROL will be demonstrating the latest version of RISC OS Select running on an Apple iMac using the unreleased Mac OS X port of VirtualRiscPC. We understand that ROL hope to be running the same 'unified' 32 bit version of RISC OS 4 on all available machines - an a9home, RiscPC, Iyonix and VirtualRiscPC.

A preview of future A9home based development work will be showcased by AdvantageSix, which not even the machine's beta testers have seen yet. Archive magazine will be selling copies of their booklets - four of which were reviewed here, and the other three cover Internet searching and StrongED. APDL will be shifting copies of their new 4th Dimension games compilation CDs.
Other exhibitors include Castle, MW Software, the ARM Club, Qercus magazine, Mathemagical Software and VirtualAcorn.
