Out of interest, in addition to this softare for Serial Port cards and the PCI TV, what other PCI cards are can now be run on an Iyonix because the driver software is available? Or is this the sum total of devices available? |

Well, there are also the drivers for the nVIDIA graphics card and for the USB card wich come with the machine as standard. And the on-board sound system and ATA controllers are probably PCI devices as well. |

Usage of a PCI networking card with the same chipset as the one on board (Intel PRO/1000) is also possible IIRC. |

We have an internal driver working for Soundblaster Audigy PCI sound cards although theres no RISC OS API/Shared Sound support (Cino drives it directly) so its far from releasable at present.
Cheers,

I'm working on a port of the open source ALSA drivers for the EMU10K1 (Sound Blaster Live/Audigy) and intend to integrate it into the RISC OS sound system with output, input and mixer controls. I have the same card in my machine as Adrian from Spellings (the SB0220). |

Its great to see people working on opening up the vast range of PCI cards to RISC OS users. I only hope this continues, and we also get some more work on USB drivers.
There are two free PCI slots in the Iyonix, and they are likely to be filled with a second graphics card for geminus, a digitiser card or addition I/O capability to support tasks which RiscPCs are currently doing, such as driving multiple serial interfaces, or SCSI devices if we get a driver for a suitable card. USB offers the potential of connecting far more than 2 additional devices, without opening the machine which not everyone likes doing, so I suspect would have a wider appeal. Also while drivers are not directly transferable, once the job is done for the Iyonix the knowledged gained can be used to support the Simtec and Castle USB cards for the RiscPC, opening up futher customers. |

If people are planning to or are writing PCI drivers it would be much appecated if they could make them Omega as well as Iyonix compatible. The differences between the two API's is fairly small. I will be putting the Omega API details up on my website soon. |

Yeah, that would be nice for those Omega users,
Could the GeForce 2 drivers also be proted to the Omega?
Not that I have one but I find all of this very interesting |

In theory at least it should be possible to make the GeForce 2 card work on the Omega although due to the current lack of a HAL on OS 4 it is likely to be more complex compared to the Iyonix. Hopefully with the improvments ROL are making this should get easer. |

Relevant to graphics cards, I notice Castle have released basic details of their 2D graphics acceleration API:
