WimpBasic.com launch competition: Looking for the best WimpBasic app

When it comes to writing a desktop application, you have three options: The first is to write everything yourself, dealing with all the nitty gritty handshaking with RISC OS. The second is to employ routines, pre-written by someone else. The third option is to use a tool like WimpBasic. WimpBasic allows you to easily create desktop applications without the complexities of interfacing with the OS.

This week has seen the start of the WimpBasic competition, organised by the Wimpbasic Website. ProArt24 and Rhapsody 4 prizes are up for grabs and there are four categories that you may enter into:

  • The best utility
  • The best game
  • The best educational program
  • The best application not fitting any other category

You can submit enteries and vote from the WimpBasic Website. The closing date for entries is the 20th April 2001 and the results will be announced at the forthcoming Wakefield 2001 RISC OS show.
