TEK 1608: We have a release, sir By Chris Williams. Published: 14th May 2002, 22:46:21 | Permalink | PrintableIt's here. You can have it. We can all love it. And Wakefield 2002 will have it.
Out of all the emails drobe.co.uk received today, there was only one that made us sigh with relief, giggle in excitement and order another pizza.
"After more than four years of development, Artex Software are proud to present the realtime strategy game TEK 1608", writes Jan Klose of Artex, the people behind the long awaited strategy game in an email to drobe.co.uk.
Jan also confirmed that RISC OS users will be able to purchase TEK at the Wakefield Show 2002, which is taking place this weekend (18/19th May). Bundled with TEK are Artex best-sellers, 'Exodus - The Colonisation of Space' and 'Ankh - The Tales of Mystery' as well as 'BotKiller 1' and 'BotKiller 2'. TEK is to be distributed by R-Comp Interactive.
Features
According to Artex, the game will feature:
- High resolution rendered graphics
- State-of-the-art design
- Stunning gameplay, easy to understand but challenging
- Screen resolutions from 640x480 up to 1024x768 (the latter requires
2MB VRAM)
- Additional smaller windows can be opened for guarding or tracking
your battle units or buildings
- A small map of the whole area is displayed on the status bar,
showing all your units/buildings, and everything you know about the
enemy
- The surface consists of isometric fields with four height levels
- Your units can only see what's within their radar. So you can hide
movements and make really nasty unseen attacks.
- Everything outside the radar of your units is displayed dark.
- Every place never visited before is unknown, ie black.
- Three different terain sets
- 12 different battle units
Requirements
TEK's minimum system requirements are a RiscStation R7500 or similar computer with 16 MB RAM, 60 MB harddisc space and a CD drive. The recommended system to get the best out of the game is a StrongARM RiscPC with 16 MB RAM, 2 MB VRAM, 60 MB harddisc space and a CD drive.
Woo hoo
Thank you Artex.
