Iyonix roadshow rolls into Europe

Germany and the Netherlands. Keep rollin', rollin', rollin' [Updated]
Update This was intially about the Iyonix visiting Germany, however we received news this morning of further European developments so things got a little more detailed.

Germany
Despite emerging at various user group meetings, despite rearing its XScale powered head at the South East and Midlands shows, despite making slashdot and other global news sites and thus netting a startling number of US based enquiries (or so we're reliably informed), the Castle Iyonix is still on the move according to the latest press release from Mike Williams of Akalat, Castle's PR person for the Iyonix. It transpires that the next stop for the Iyonix roadshow, as we like to call it, is Germany, specifically at the a4 hosted A.U.T.O event in Wolfen, eastern Germany, on Saturday 14th December.

"A.U.T.O. stands for Acorn User Treffen Ost (Acorn User Meet East) and provides frequent meetings for RISC OS enthusiasts in the area", explains the the press release. "...All are welcome."

Castle will be attending the show with their Iyonix, ready to answer your questions and to demonstrate their new hardware. It's possible that many non-RISC OS users could attend the show as this event comes soon after the reputedly influential German heise.de online magazine covered the Iyonix release, a significant step forward for Castle and in a way RISC OS as a whole; it seems the platform is at least now getting tapped on the shoulder and shown some kind of recognition from non-RISC OS media organisations. Perhaps the same form of recognition you get when you recognise a painting from your childhood in a modern gallery. Or something; look, just click on the link below.

Netherlands
We're pleased to convey the news that X-Ample Technology bv is now an official distributor of the Castle Iyonix. According to the press release, Castle managing director Jack Lillingston has much praise for X-Ample, commenting, "We are delighted to appoint X-Ample Technology as our Dutch distributor. The widely acclaimed NEW IYONIX pc - the first ever XScale desktop computer - has a huge potential with its virtually silent operation, fast boot time and easy to use software."

Catch me under the mistletoe, why is this news? Well, this means that there's now an Iyonix dealer for the Netherlands and it appears that a noticable European distribution channel for Castle is gathering pace. X-Ample Technology bv have been retailing RISC OS computers since 1986 so Castle are evidently leaving their Dutch customers in safe hands. Also, to kick business off to a good start, Paul Reuvers (managing director of X-Ample) has organised a couple of events for Dutch RISC OS users. The first is to be held on the 13th this month (a Friday, what luck) in Oss and the second on the 14th in Delft. Both days will feature demonstrations of the Iyonix, more details can be found from the link below. If you are going to either event, you're asked to drop an email to info@iyonix.nl

"We recognise the true potential of this new and exiting machine", Paul admirably comments for the press release. "The IYONIX pc will definitely bring the RISC OS market to the attention of many more computer enthusiasts and we expect existing users to be just as excited we are."

Hey, let's make it happen! I'm 27, started programming on an Electron at the age of 10, then an A3000, RiscPC, now an Iyonix.... and still going strong! :-)
