Let us know what you think. Let us know what you think.
We're planning a new drobe.co.uk frontpage with a new layout and hopefully lots more content. In order that we get the design just right, we've started experimenting publically now with new styles. The first being to make links blue again and to split the news into two coloumns on the front page.

We welcome all comments, ideas, suggestions, rants and flames to comments@drobe.co.uk. Thanks.

I don't like the design that is on atm. It is not very clear as to what is what :(

Could you elaborate?

Not really... it just looked horrible.

Looks better now :)

Phew! That was terrifying for a moment, we've added images now and made older news tabled.

PHP editted with Nettle and pico. We like.

I think it's great!! Although 2 minor points, did I notice earlier that there was a horizontal rule (line) between new news and old news? This was nicer still but seems to have gone. And the whole thing of having a graphic for the lead news story, won't this mean producing an approcpriate 'Drobified'-picture for each new news item?

How about some headings saying "Latest News" and "Older News"? A bit more color would be nice too although I don't know how.

I'd rather like to see Drobe support the RDF format so that you can see Drobe headlines with !Ticker ([Link: www.youmustbejoking.demon.co.uk]).

RDF/RSS is on the cards, once I can get the PHP engine to write out to the relevant textfiles.

I prefer the existing layout (i.e. news in single column on front page). Easier to navigate and distinguish the main text from the side columns.

Ok. We're just publically trying ideas to see what people think. We might revert back to a single column or try 3 coloumns. Wait and see :)

Having just now had cause to try to find an older article I found reading the 2 column headlines was slower and more difficult. One column to rule them all, or in the cookie bind them.

I find that two columns looks nicer, but one column easier to read. Maybe a vertical rule would help.

drobe.co.uk obviously don't think so ;-)

We're torn by the layout. We'll have to make it configurable or something.

Good idea :-)

You could add an option to get rid of the right-hand column; I personally don't find it that useful and just takes up screen estate (although I'm sure some people use it).
