Published: 5th Oct 11:40:21 | Permalink | Printable Element-14, the silicon design company that was formed after Acorn's dismantle, has been gobbled up by US based Broadcom for an undisclosed sum of money. In August last year, E-14 were given $13 million of investment from Atlas Ventures; e-14 currently are developing ASDL and DSP technologies. The company head design team still has members from the leading Acorn design staff.
Broadcom specialise in designing chips and systems that allow voice, fax, video and ordinary data to be transferred through communication networks and the internet. Broadcom's website already boasts many previous acquisitions of smaller, growing electronics companies.
