ProAction needs good ideas By Chris Williams. Published: 30th Jun 2003, 17:06:09.Swamped in software, seeking direction "Nice open question for you", writes APDL/ProAction's David Bradforth. "What needs doing to our software?" ProAction, having soaked up Clares' software back catalogue last year, has called on users this week to suggest improvements and ideas for their range of software.
ProAction's software hoarde now includes Compo, WimpBasic, Sleuth, Desktop Repton. ProAction later told us that work is already underway on WimpBasic 2, Slueth 4, Typestudio 2 and Recycler Plus. Acorn Publisher editor John Cartmell suggested that the software developers get on the scene to talk to users offering feature ideas. "If users really believe they are being listened to and results will be available short-term they will go out of their way to make suggestions - and later to test and report (& advertise!) new versions", John added. We're certain that every software developer out there has always looked forward to receiving feature suggestions from users, but it's good to see ProAction being so, erm, proactive about it. What with such an extensive software catalogue now, we're not surprised ProAction are turning to users to give them defined direction. Having absorbed Clares' all star cast of application titles, ProAction's team may well have drowned in material whilst trying to drive the lot through a much needed redevelopment'n'release cycle. Over to you. Links Email Dave with your ideas. We'll also compile any ideas from the article comments into an email for ProAction. Because we're nice.
